Guides / Settings and team

People and seats

Add the people who work on jobs, in one of two roles, up to the number your plan holds. The card counts them and refuses in a plain sentence at the limit.

What you need first

  • The owner role
  • The name and email address of the person you are adding

Casework has two roles and no permission matrix. By the end of this page you will know which of the two to give someone, what the count above the list means, and what happens when you reach it.

Open Settings, then People

The Team card opens with a count: how many people are in the workspace and how many the plan holds. Under it, everyone who is in it, with their role and a marker on you.

The Team card, counting the people on the shop's plan, listing the owner, and carrying the name, email and role fields that add a member
  1. 1How many people, out of how many the plan holds
  2. 2Everyone in the workspace, with their role
  3. 3Add member

Type a name and an email

The address is where their invitation goes and the one they sign in with. Use the address they actually read rather than an alias, because a password reset lands there too.

Choose one of the two roles

Team manages projects and has no access to shop settings: they can log leads, fill in specs, draft documents and photograph build steps. Owner has full access, including pricing and terms. The select spells both out rather than making you guess.

Click Add member

They get an invitation at that address. If email is not configured on the deployment, a password is shown once instead, and it is stored nowhere, so write it down before you leave the page.

Expect a plain refusal at the limit

A workspace at its seat count will not add another. The card says so in a sentence and writes nothing: no half-made account, no profile row. Raising the count is a plan change, which the operator sets.

Remove someone without losing the record

Removing a member revokes their access immediately. Their name stays on the documents they approved, because an approval is a record of who read it and that record should not change when somebody leaves.

What happens next

People are one way work arrives. The next guide is the other one: leads posted straight in from your website form.
