Guides / Clients and intake

What the client sees, photos

Four photos from where they are standing, with a prompt for each. The photo path is not a fallback, and the form gives it the same weight as the tape measure.

What you need first

  • An intake link already sent

By the end of this guide you know what a client who will not measure is asked for instead. This path exists because asking the wrong client to measure ends the conversation, and that client often has the budget.

They press Send photos instead

On the Measurements screen the second box reads Send photos instead, with the line Four photos from where you're standing. We'll work out the sizes and confirm on-site.

It sits in a box the same size as the measuring one, with the same weight of type and the same kind of button. That is deliberate. A path that reads as a fallback is a path a client apologises for taking.

They are told where to stand

The screen is headed with the room and four photos, one at a time, under Include a door frame or standard fridge for scale where possible.

Four numbered prompts, each with a slot for the photo and a line saying what it is for.

The photo path of the client's intake, with four numbered prompts saying where to stand for each shot
  1. 1One slot per photo, with the shot named
  2. 2The fourth is for whatever does not fit the first three
  1. From the doorway. Stand in the doorway and shoot the whole room.
  2. The sink wall. Straight on, back as far as you can get.
  3. The stove wall. Include the range and the wall on both sides.
  4. Anything unusual. Bulkhead, post, sloped ceiling, odd corner.

They can add a rough width, or not

Under the four prompts: Optional: rough room width helps us estimate faster, with one box marked feet, roughly.

Then the same free-text box the measuring path has, Anything else about the room.

Nothing here is required

A client can press through this screen having uploaded nothing at all, and the form will still take them to Style and Timing and still let them send it.

That is the point. A required upload is a client who closes the tab, and a job that arrives with a name, a room and a phone number is still a job you can ring back.

What reaches you

The project's Specs tab records Measured by: from photos and shows the photos beside the specification, so you are reading what they sent rather than trusting a number somebody typed for them.

Some clients will send a hand-drawn diagram in a text message instead of using either path. That is a legitimate measurement source. Log what you read off it on the Specification card yourself, and leave the drawing in the thread it came in.
