A job rate that differs from your catalogue
Type a different rate for one job. The cell is marked, your catalogue rate stays printed under it, and the proposal tells you how many rows you changed.
What you need first
- A room on the take-off with at least one block
Some jobs are not your standard rate: a long haul out of town, a supplier surcharge, a client's own hardware. By the end of this page you will have priced one row differently for one job, and know for certain that your catalogue did not move.
Type over the figure in the Rate column
Click the rate cell and type the number this job is being built at. The total on the right updates, and so does everything above it.
Look for the cell being marked out
A rate that is not the catalogue's is drawn differently from one that is, and your catalogue's own rate appears under the cell in small type beside a Reset link. You can see at a glance which rows on this sheet are yours for today and which are yours for every job.

The figures here come from a demo workspace with one placeholder item in its catalogue. What the picture is about is the marked cell, the rate under it and Reset.
Click Reset to put the catalogue rate back
Reset clears the job rate rather than typing the old number back in, so there is no chance of a fat-fingered restore. The row goes back to reading your catalogue and the marking disappears.
Know that nothing you type here reaches Settings
A job rate lives on this project's take-off. Your catalogue on the Pricing tab is untouched, and the next job starts from it. Changing your rates for good is a separate thing you do in Settings, on purpose.
Read the count on the drafted proposal
When you draft, the Proposal card counts the rows you priced differently and says so: one rate differs from your catalogue on this job, and your catalogue is unchanged. It is there so a job priced oddly is never a surprise to you later.
What happens next
A different rate is for a row your catalogue already has. For the thing it has never had, there is a spare row, which is the next guide.
