Guides / Proposals

Approve and open the proposal

Read the draft where it was built, approve it, then open the document to print it or attach it to your own email. The proposal has no client link.

What you need first

  • A saved take-off, or a contract price typed on the Proposal card

A drafted proposal is reviewed on the project, not in a queue somewhere else. By the end of this page you will have read the draft, approved it, and opened the document you send.

Read the three figures on the card

The card turns to In review and shows Rooms, Subtotal and Project total. If you priced any row differently on this job, a line under them says how many and that your catalogue is unchanged.

The drafted proposal in review, with the room count, the subtotal, the project total, the note that one rate differs from the catalogue, and Approve
  1. 1The project total, with uplift and tax in it
  2. 2How many rows were priced for this job only
  3. 3Approve, with Preview beside it

Click Preview to read the whole thing first

Preview opens the document as it will print, so you read the clauses, the schedule and the room breakdown before anyone else does. Nothing has left the workspace at this point.

Click Approve

Plain Approve, with no link. The proposal is a document you send yourself, as an attachment or on paper, so there is nothing to mint and nothing that can expire.

The proposal card once approved, reading that it can be printed or attached to an email, with Open the proposal beside it
  1. 1Open the proposal, to print it or save a PDF

Click Open the proposal

The document opens on your letterhead. Print it from the browser, or use your browser's print dialogue to save a PDF and attach that to an email you write yourself. There is no server-side renderer in the way, so what prints is what is on screen.

Discard rather than edit if something is wrong

The footer says what Discard does: it clears the draft, you fix the source data, and you draft it again. Fixing the figure on the document instead of in the record is how a shop ends up with two different prices for one job.

Move the stage when they sign

Signing is yours to record. Move the job to Signed on the stage control at the top of the project, which locks the specification, because after signing the spec is the record of what was agreed rather than a working draft.

What happens next

The drawings and the walkthrough go out beside the proposal. The Videos section picks up there, starting with adding a Loom to a project.
