Guides / Estimates
Add a line and a note
Two kinds of added line, one priced off your catalogue and one you type yourself, plus a note printed under the pricing. Both add to every finish equally.
What you need first
- An estimate already drafted and in review
- A catalogue imported, for the From catalogue tab to have anything in it
By the end of this guide the estimate carries whatever this job has that the rungs do not, and a sentence in your own words under the price. Neither can reduce a figure.
Open Add a line
Under the families, a block headed Added lines reads Nothing added. Every finish above carries what you add here until there is something in it.
Open Add a line and two tabs appear.

- 1Add a line opens the panel
- 2Two tabs: one priced from your rates, one your own figure
- 3Add line puts it on every finish above
Price one off your catalogue
From catalogue takes a Category, an Item and a quantity, and prices the line through the same arithmetic the proposal uses. The panel says so: Priced from your own rates, the same way the proposal prices it.
This is the case where the job has something real in it that the linear-foot rungs do not cover. Lighting on this one. A panel somewhere unusual.
The tab is only useful once a catalogue is imported. See The detailed catalogue.
Or type your own figure
Custom takes a label and an amount you type, under the line Your own figure. It has to be more than zero.
Zero and negative figures are refused. Every affordance on this card adds; none of them shaves the computed figure, which is the same rule that keeps the family ranges uneditable.
Press Add line
An added line is a flat sum applied equally to every family, exactly as the lighting figure already is. Adding one does not change which finishes are ticked and does not change any family's computed range. The Added lines block then lists what you added.
Write the note
Under the lines, a box marked Note and a Save note button, with the line Printed on the estimate under the pricing.
Words only. There is no money in it and no placeholder in it. Use it for the sentence that belongs to this job and no other: the lead time you promised on the phone, the thing you want them to think about before they reply.
