Draft the design agreement

Build the agreement that charges for your drawings, read it on the card where it was drafted, and approve it to get the client's link.

What you need first

  • Your design agreement terms on the Terms tab in Settings
  • A project with a client name and an address

The design agreement is the document that stops you drawing for free. By the end of this page you will have one drafted from your own terms, read it on the project, and approved it into a private link you can send.

Open the project and click Documents

Every document for a job lives on one tab. The Documents tab lists five cards down the page: Estimate, Design agreement, Proposal, Pre-install pack and Care manual. The ones you have not started carry a quiet To do.

Click Draft the design agreement

The card tells you what it is about to do: "Built from this project and the shop's terms. You read it here before anyone else does." Nothing leaves the workspace when you press it.

Read the three figures on the card

The card turns to In review and opens the whole draft where it stands. You do not go anywhere else to approve it. Three cells carry the terms that matter to the client: the fee, how much of it comes off the build price, and the date the drawings are ready by. All three come off your Terms tab, not off this job.

The design agreement in review, with the fee, the credit and the date the drawings are ready, above Approve and create link
  1. 1Design fee, from Settings, Terms
  2. 2How much of the fee comes off the build price
  3. 3Approve & create link, which mints the client's link

If the card refuses, it names the term it is missing

A document is never improvised in your voice. If a clause or a figure is not in Settings yet, the card says which one rather than filling the gap with something plausible. Fill it in on the Terms tab and draft again.

What happens next

The client opens the link on their phone. The next guide, what the client signs, walks through the page they see and the one button on it.
