Guides / Care and aftercare

Set the install date

One field and one Save. It dates the pre-install pack, starts the warranty and schedules five years of follow-ups without you remembering to.

What you need first

  • A project that has been installed, or has a date booked

This is the smallest press in Casework and the one that does the most. By the end of this page the job will have a date on it and a five-year schedule underneath it that nobody has to keep.

Open the project and click Build

The Install and aftercare card sits under the build timeline and the photo portal. While the date is empty, the card is one field and one button.

The Install and aftercare card with an empty Installed date, a Save beside it and the line saying that saving schedules five years of follow-ups
  1. 1Installed, the day the job was finished
  2. 2What Save does, written next to it

Type the date and click Save

The line under the field warns you before you press it: saving the install date schedules five years of follow-ups. That is the whole point, and it happens without a second screen.

Read the schedule that appears

Six rows, dated off the one you typed: six months, then one, two, three, four and five years. Under them: scheduled, each drafts itself when due and lands in your inbox.

Change the date and watch them move

Installs move. Changing the date moves anything not yet sent, and leaves anything already sent where it is, because a note that went out in March did go out in March whatever the calendar says now.

Know what else the date is doing

It dates the pre-install pack, which counts its client-ready day backwards from it. It starts the warranty clock on the warranty roster. And it puts the job on the care manual's aftercare schedule, which is the same six dates in the client's own words.

Do not set it before the job is done, unless you mean it

A booked date is fine and useful, because the pre-install pack needs one. Just remember that the follow-ups are dated off it, so a date that slips two months and is never corrected sends the six-month note two months early.

What happens next

The schedule is now six rows on a card. The next guide is what those rows do over the five years you are on the hook for.
